china abounds with new found energy. a hustle and a bustle that ripples with vibrancy. alive with the thrill of money and power. china turns itself into a modern power. shanghai sits at the center of this explosion and it's new, towering skyline is moving ever closer to replacing new york as the place to be. (my apologies to hong kong, singapore, mumbai and the other rising megalopolises).

soft, flickering light of candles waft through the cathedral. tourists linger amidst the devote. prayers mixed with oohs and aahs. religion meets the masses as redemption is searched for. whether in the form of a votive candle or the wanderings of a tourist the congregation still forms to pay homage.

These are the cities I stayed in for more than one day in 2006:
Lisbon, Portugal
Malaga, Spain
Vienna, Austria
London, England
Carcassone, France
Paris, France
Marrakesh, Morocco
Essaouira, Morocco
Casablanca, Morocco
Tanger, Morocco
Black Rock City, Nevada
Claremont, California
Oakland, California
San Francisco, California
Rota, Spain
Rotterdam, Holland
Amsterdam, Holland
Toledo, Spain
Madrid, Spain
Barcelona, Spain
This seems like a pretty good list for a year in my life. That's 6 national capitals, a temporary art city and three continents. Not bad.
Peeking out from a doorway, I saw a smile. A quick look and I realized that the smile wasn't for me and it wasn't going anywhere soon. Behind the beads was a door with a poster attached to it. The smiling face might still be there.
